In 2007, the Village of Twin Lakes and the Joint Review Board approved the Tax Increment District (TID) Boundaries for TID #1 in downtown Twin Lakes.

Tax Increment Financing (TIF) is an economic development tool the Village uses to spur development and fund public improvements while keeping taxpayer costs low.
